Miriam Kabongo, the prodigal daughter, is called home to the prairies for her father’s wake, arriving to a house which feels desolate without him. With sisters who have busy lives of their own, and a mother who is as impenetrable as ever, Miriam is forced to finally confront the family dynamic that has kept her away. As mourners gather over the weekend, grief collides with old wounds, generational divides, and secrets that refuse to stay buried. Bursting with life, Wake is full of heart, laughter, and plenty of family drama. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to present this world-premiere in partnership with our friends at Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon.
