If you love new plays like I love new plays, then High-Wire is the place for you this season! We have three very exciting works-in-development that you get to have a sneak peak at. This is a chance for you to hear new scripts early in their development, and even give feedback about what excites you about the projects, to help the playwrights as they shape the scripts further. - Daryl
Children of God
By COREY PAYETTE
A musical about an Oji-Cree family whose children were sent to residential school. It examines how our past directly relates to our future and celebrates Indigenous peoples’ never-ending cultural spirit, which blends the traditional and the contemporary. From this new perspective, we can tell the stories of wounds that will not heal in the hope that by acknowledging these stories, we can move towards accepting the past.

Corey is looking at the impact of the residential school system in a really innovative, really theatrical manner. He has written a gorgeous, heart-breaking, hopeful musical. Some incredible theatre companies from across Canada (including the National Arts Centre, Urban Ink and Raven Theatre) have come together to workshop this musical, and we’re so excited to host them here in Kamloops. Be the first to see this workshop presentation, before the production plays across Canada in seasons to come. - Daryl

I’m creating a stage adaptation of this award-winning novel, set just down the road from Kamloops in Turtle Valley. Gail’s novel is written in her incredible “Pacific Gothic” style full of compelling, flawed characters and evocative theatrical opportunities. Come be a part of it as we turn this fantastic BC-based novel into a script for the stage. - Daryl
